Russia is Likely to Lose the Majority of its Invasion Force by Early Summer: It's Only Going to Get Worse for Them.
The Russian government and Russian army is filled with murderers, war criminals, rapists, and all the other forms of scum that walk the Earth. Every Russian soldier killed, every Russian family ripped to shreds is a small victory for the rule of law, for democracy, for prosperity, and for humanity. We've already seen their actions contrasted against the compassion of the Ukrainian people, military, and legal system in a court of law. Within the past 10 days, one man pleaded guilty to war crimes for shooting a 62-year-old man riding his bike in a Russian-occupied city and was sentenced to life in prison while two more pleaded guilty to shelling Ukraine from Russia and face up to 12 years in prison when sentenced.
Since the war began, Russia has had an estimated 30,000 troops killed and 30,000 more injured, deserted, or captured, effectively taking 60,000 troops off of the battlefield out of their initial invasion force of roughly 175,000. This represents approximately 34 percent of troops in 90 days. At the same rate, it will take 45 more days, or until early July of this year, for Russia to have lost 51 percent of its troops, the majority.
It's not just poorly-trained ground troops, either. Since I last updated my followers on the Russo-Ukrainian War, Russian General Kanamat Botashev, a high-ranking Air Force commander allegedly tied to the Wagner Group that has committed atrocities in the Middle East and North Africa, was reportedly struck down by a Ukrainian Stinger missile while flying an attack aircraft near Popasna on May 22nd, 2022.
This brings the total of Russian generals killed in Ukraine to 12, or nearly one a week since the invasion began. The United States has been providing intelligence allowing Ukraine to specifically target generals and other high-ranking officers at a rate unprecedented in modern warfare. It's only going to get worse for Russia.
As generals, other officers, and large numbers of men are killed, desertion rates and performance in battle will get worse. Russia has only two options: bring in more generals to guide, organize, and lift the spirits of the troops in unfamiliar territory, or spare the lives of their generals and allow the military situation on the ground to get even worse after Russia has already had to drastically scale back its goals and its range for the war. In either case, it doesn't end well for Russia, and Putin must know that by now.
By this Christmas, an independent, democratic Ukraine will still exist; it's whether Putin will still be in power that remains to be seen. If he is, he can count of his entire military being virtually destroyed by Ukrainian forces with nearly $100 billion in backing from their allies and all the intelligence they could ever want. Russia, it's time to give up, go home, and end your illegal occupation of Ukraine, including that of Crimea and and the Donbas.
