The Trump-Obama Hypocrisy

If there is hypocrisy in the way Biden and Trump are treated and criticized, then the way Obama and Trump are treated exemplifies this even more blatantly.

Barack Obama was criticized for not having experience. He was the first black editor of the Harvard Law Review, worked as a community organizer and a civil rights attorney, taught constitutional law for 12 years, wrote 2 best-selling books, served in the Illinois Senate and the U.S. Senate, and delivered the 2004 DNC keynote speech. Donald Trump, on the other hand, is the only president to come to the White House with no military or political experience.

Donald Trump's presidency has been plagued with scandals; from sex scandals involving prostitutes to ethics scandals involving foreign nations, he has disgraced the office more, perhaps, than any other in its position. Rightfully so, he has been criticized by many, and, rightfully so, he was impeached earlier this year. He tries to claim that he has been treated more poorly than any president in American history. When Obama won in 2008, he was burned in effigy, and he and his wife both had to deal with racial slurs, a ridiculous demand to produce a birth certificate that far supercedes the insult of being asked to produce some tax returns as a multibillionaire under audit, and the claim that he is a liar. The fact of the matter is that Trump lies far more frequently than Obama did.

The worst scandal to ever befall the Obama administration was a racist shout that he did not belong wearing a tan suit, and the Republicans had a field day criticizing him over his fashion choices. They also called Michelle out for wearing a dress that showed her sleeves, while Melania was called the “classiest first lady in history,” despite appearing in a sex tape, and she also wore a shirt claiming that she didn’t care about people while visiting children locked in cramped cages away from their families.

Barack Obama’s treatment is indicative of a larger problem in the United States. The first black president, he has had to deal with threats, unwarranted hatred, and bias that has never been experienced by any other leader. If we are to progress, we must never forget the horrid Trump-Obama hypocrisy.
