Trump’s Racist Immigration Policy Is A Failure

Immigration is a tough issue, and by no means was the policy of the Obama administration perfect. However, Trump seems hellbent on racism, cruelty, deceit, and virtually every other atrocity possible.

The worst site of this cruelty is the Mexican border. Here, six children have died in just over two years thanks to the incompetence of the Trump administration. They are separated from their families and put into cramped cages without sanitary products, reportedly having to drink from toilets. No children died during the Obama administration because he pursued a policy of recognizance bond and keeping family bonds. Trump increased the bond for immigrants by upwards of 1,000% and dramatically increased the amount of separations while turning away several million asylum seekers. For up to 2 years, immigrants seeking to enter the country legally are essentially held in concentration camps.

Most notable, however, is his policy of trying to build a wall. Despite the obvious hypocrisy of the party opposing government spending being willing to spring $22 billion or the foolishness of thinking Mexico would pay for it, the project has been wrought with flaws and fraud. Ignoring the fact that most illegal immigration is by sea, the wall has not been completed, and we are left with a bigger fence that has been scaled quite easily in broad daylight. Areas of this fence have also necessitated cutting down swaths of wilderness protected area, like the biodiverse Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. A GoFundMe that raised millions of dollars was shut down for violated some pretty obvious rules, and now Steve Bannon may face 20 years in prison for spending over $1 million of funds raised for the project on his personal expenses.

Meanwhile, Trump has in effect banned Muslims from entering the country. His first two bans were overturned by the Supreme Court, but the list has since grown to include 15 countries in Africa and in Asia. A court in Hawaii noted that there was no sufficient evidence that banning entry of nationals from nearly 10% of countries would help the United States, and no reduction in Islamic terrorism has been demonstrated, while the chance for hundreds of thousands of law-abiding people to live the American dream has been shattered.

  However, the Department of Homeland Security and the president seem to have no qualms about white immigrants. Trumpers try to claim that he cannot be racist because he has married 2 immigrants, ignoring that Czechoslovakia and Slovenia are in Europe.

Donald Trump is a racist, a dictator, and a failure, plain and simple.
