Republicans: Taking Advantage Of The Misinformed For The Gain Of A Select Few

The Republican platform is genius, quite honestly, because it uses philosophical speech alluding to America's founding principles that appeals to uneducated folks who possess no real grasp of what their values are. Trump does, in fact, say that he "loves the poorly-educated."

The Republicans are against an increased minimum wage for retail employees, and they are against the right of laborers to organize. They have been steadfast opponents of term limit bills introduced into various legislatures, they support restrictions enforced by the government against abortion and marijuana that has been proven to be less harmful than alcohol, and yet they support the death penalty and refuse to crack down on drug companies extorting money out of suffering people. Most reprehensibly, they even oppose things light rights for the LGBTQIA+, minority reforms, and female equality.

Taxes are the most blatant hypocrisy. Republicans claim to oppose big government spending and taxation. Yet they favor increasing the military budget, the source of half of all government spending, and oppose things like a wealth tax, a sin tax, and corporate taxes that could drastically reduce the citizen tax burden. There have, however, been tax cuts for the rich and corporate bailouts.

The main point that they fail to understand is that republicanism only works in a world where everyone has the same chance. With the top 1% controlling 90% of the wealth, nobody can possibly claim that to be true: a single mother with 5 kids struggling through college has a harder time than the son of a multibillionaire. The point of programs like SNAP is to level the playing field. Adam Smith, in his development of capitalism, expressly forbade corporate tax breaks that favored some, and America's current system is not capitalism by any means.

I love America not because of some tradition, but because of the people in it, and Republicans take advantage of the misinformed for the gain of a select few.
