The Battle For The Soul Of This Nation

America's founders had a vision for this nation. They saw a place where hard work and a vision were all that was necessary to succeed, a place where people dedicated to serving the interests of the people were elected democratically and not subjected to unjust treatment or persecution. While the spirit of America remains, it has been placed in serious jeopardy, and, on this election day, Americans have the obligation to make a choice.

There is Joe Biden. He has a concrete plan to curb coronavirus, halt climate change, address racism, make college affordable, fight big business and the commercial medical industry, fix the broken criminal justice system, and lower taxes on the middle class. This is backed up by his half-century career of public service. A practicing lawyer, he served on the New Castle County Council before becoming among the longest-serving senators. In that position, he created the Violent Crime Control And Law Enforcement Act and the Violence Against Women Act, which reduced crime by a third by instituting stronger restraining orders, creating sex offender registries and a domestic violence hotline, mandating background checks and waiting periods on pistols, and banning assault rifles for ten years. He was a natural selection for VP under Barack Obama, an administration in which an economic crisis was relieved, gay marriage was legalized, more wilderness was protected than any administration in history, the war in Iraq was ended, relations with Cuba were normalized, and tensions with Iran and Russia were eased. His son Beau served as a soldier and Attorney General of Delaware, where he prosecuted America's worst pedophile. After Beau died of brain cancer, Joe Biden utilized his skills in uniting both sides of the aisle and teamed up with Meghan McCain to establish a cancer research charity, and he also taught law. Now, he wants to bring his vision and experience to the White House.

Then there is Donald Trump. He received an inheritance from his wealthy father and never really had to work a day in his life. He became a reality star who married two immigrants and cheated on and divorced two women. He called his daughter hot and befriended Jeffrey Epstein, being accused of sexual assault more than 30 times. He admitted to groping women without consent and paid hush money to a porn star. He was the subject of 3 civil rights lawsuits, called blacks "naturally-lazy," and claimed 5 black men acquitted of rape by DNA evidence were guilty. After winning the presidency (despite losing the popular vote by nearly 3 million), he drove the U.S. into debt while cutting taxes for the rich. He started a tariff war with China that cost American jobs, became the third president to be impeached after he tried to blackmail Ukraine, and fought to change the outcome the election by cutting the USPS. He mismanaged the COVID-19 crisis, killing 250,000 Americans thusfar, and plunged the country into an economic crisis. He severed ties with our allies while colluding with Russia, and, despite promises to "drain the swamp," 16 of his associates have been charged with felonies. He banned Muslims from entering the country, tried to build a wall with Mexico, and killed children in filthy, cramped cages. He said there were good people in the white supremacist community and received the endorsement of the KKK, of which his parents were members, while making inflammatory statements and opposing police reform. He has repealed LGBTQIA+ protections and environmental regulations.

It is plain: this is, indeed, a battle for the soul of this nation. Every American needs to vote today; our very lives depend on it.
