24 States And Territories Set Ambitious Renewable Energy Targets

     

     While politicians at the federal level already aim to oppose concrete legislation to fight climate change, states and companies continue to make progress in this effort.

1. Washington, Minnesota, Hawaii, New Mexico, California, Maine, Virginia, New York, Oregon, and Nevada, as well as Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C., have all set targets of 100% renewable energy by 2040-2050.

2. Despite not having lesgislation, Governor Tony Evers established a commission and signed a flurry of executive orders designed to get the state of Wisconsin to 100% renewable energy by 2050.

3. New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Arizona, and Massachusetts have proposed legislation to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2040-2050. 

4. Delaware has a target of 40% renewable energy by 2027.

5. Vermont and Colorado have a target of 90% renewable energy by 2050.

6. Maryland has a target of 50% renewable energy by 2030.
