Georgia Will Matter Again In 2022 And 2024

Georgia played a pivotal role in the 2020 election, providing Joe Biden critical votes to cement his win for the White House and giving Democrats control of the Senate.

In 2022, it will also be a decisive state. Raphael Warnock, who won a special election, will face the regular election for Senate. Brian Kemp, the governor who used fraud to beat Stacey Abrams in 2018, will run for reelection. The state gubernatorial elections and the federal midterms will determine if Democrats can keep control of the legislature and possibly serve as an indicator for how Georgia votes in 2024.

If Joe Biden can get the same momentum he did in 2020 in Georgia, he will likely win a second term. If not, he could be defeated. Georgia has tended to lean Republican, with the exception of Jimmy Carter in 1976, and the 2022 and 2024 elections will decide if Georgia's results were a direct response to Donald Trump or a new enthusiasm for the Democratic Party.
