How FOX News Set America Up For A Capitol Raid
As destructive, hateful, and ignorant as Trump supporters can be, one really cannot blame them for what they believe. Humans tend to surround themselves with sources that tell them what they want to hear rather than anything that would question their worldview, and this is especially true for conservative Americans.
FOX News and other far-right media sources spent months defending Trump through all ill deeds, especially in 2020. When he was impeached, it was disloyalty on the part of his staff. When coronavirus occurred, Trump was a defender of freedom victimized by mainstream media reporting "fake news." When the racial tension occurred, Trump was a champion of law and order opposed to "terrorism."
Donald Trump has been the most divisive president in history. What Trump supporters, unlike Biden supporters, fail to see, is that, for everyone who loves Trump, there is someone who hates him equally as fervently. Biden was the moderate candidate, able to appeal to the undecided voters, while Trump had a base that could not shrink but could also not grow. They lived in their own reality for five years, and that reality was shattered overnight.
Donald Trump knew this, and, with more at stake than any losing candidate with potential criminal charges facing him, he used tactics never entered upon, claiming the election was fraudulent and raking in hundreds of millions of dollars before, as a last resort, unleashing chaos on the Capitol.
This was not a result of random passion, but of four years defending every controversial statement Trump made and every incendiary action he took. They painted him as a victim, and their last minute attempts to clear their names for history and do their jobs, both the politicians and the folks at FOX, seemed like a betrayal rather than an admittance of the truth.
These people, it seems, just cannot believe that they have devoted five years of their lives to something that the people rejected as wrong, and this is the result of wounded pride stoked by lies and division.
