#TBT: President Barack Obama Signs Landmark Legislation Securing Fair Pay For Women

 

     In one of his first acts as president, on January 29th, 2009, Barack Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, a landmark piece of legislation that allowed thousands of women to successfully sue for hundreds of millions of dollars in wages lost due to discrimination. Introduced by Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), this bill fulfilled one of Obama's major campaign promises.
