Biden Administration Provides $6.2 Billion In Aid To Puerto Rico

The Biden administration has freed up $6.2 billion in disaster relief and prevention funds that Donald Trump held hostage in the wake of 2017's vicious hurricane season. This represents nearly one-third of the total aid money allocated to Puerto Rico, whose recovery has been much slower than that of Texas and Florida.

The island has existed in a state of poverty and violence since the disasters struck, and providing aid to Puerto Rico using numerous financial and political methods has been a key part of Biden's platform. A pledge made in the campaign and announced weeks ago, this, alongside the American Rescue Plan Act, presents a beacon of hope for Puerto Rico.
