Biden Seeks Protection For Climate Refugees

On February 4th, 2021, via executive order, President Joe Biden undid two Trump-era executive orders, effectively restoring the United States ability to identify and support migrants affected by climate change.

The order mandates that all department heads view climate change as a factor in their operations and seeks adjustments to America's immigration system to allow for the safe relocation of people who have been forced to flee their homes because of hurricanes and other natural disasters caused by climate change.

The issue is recognized as a matter of national security by Europe, Australia, and New Zealand as well as the United States and combines the issues of immigration and climate change to create effective change.
