Wisconsin Bus Drivers Segregate Students

Pulaski Community School District bus drivers are under fire for comments and revelations made during a teacher in-service session in February 2021. During a session on racial sensitivity, driver Terri Ferfecki (top) turned heads when she went on a verbal tirade against the school guidance counselor. She turned the room silent, furthermore, when she asked a question regarding racism that was relevant a century ago. Eager to protect her students from racism, she mentioned that her new route included two "students of color." She then explained that she had been keeping them segregated from the rest of the students in order to protect them from feeling discriminated against, which is, in itself, discrimination that violates federal law and state law, not to mention school policy.

While much of the room was in disbelief, bus driver Rhonda Matuszak (bottom) took Ferfecki aside as the session let out and explained that Ferfecki had "asked some good questions." Aside from being completely wrong, it raised further questions about Matuszak's own treatment of her students. Urge PCSD to address the issue immediately!!!
