R.E.M. Earns The Golden Play Button

 

     R.E.M. is among the most liberal musical artists. Most famous for their song "Losing My Religion," the band is a member of the charity Artists Against Racism and has been active in campaigning for candidates Michael Dukakis and John Kerry. They have also, notably, worked to raise awareness about Aung San Suu Kyi and injustices in Myanmar. Individually, the members have also been active in political and social causes, including PETA, atheism, and HIV awareness. 

     Recently, their YouTube channel, remhq, hit a million subscribers, a major milestone and one that qualifies content creators for the Golden Play Button. Congrats, R.E.M.!!!
