Jim Jordan Believes Only White People Can Peacefully Protest

     Not one word of condemnation from Jim Jordan for the mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6th, 2021, killing seven people and injuring hundreds, as a direct result of the lies he promulgated. In 2020, as with most Republicans, it was a different story. He presented before the House an edited montage with out-of-context, mashed videos, images, and words that made it appear CNN was promoting violence, and Jordan was strongly rebuked.

 

     May I educate you for a minute, Mr. Jordan, as anyone who not only coaches wrestling, but is in the deputy position, cannot have made much of a positive contribution to school culture? 

1. Millions of Americans participated in the George Floyd protests.

2. 96% were peaceful.

3. Most demonstrations resulting in conflict were with counter protestors, not police.

4. The majority of property damage caused was by looting done by opportunists, not by people with any political affiliation.

5. Unlike the Capitol riot, agitators were extensively involved in the riots that did occur in 2020.

6. Only 14,000 people were ever arrested across the country, most of which were for minor offenses like trespass and curfew violations that resulted in small fines.

7. More people were killed by white supremacists driving through and shooting up demonstrations than by demonstrators, and the GOP has promoted these tactics since Charlottesville.

8. The protests themselves were in response to a string of murders, not fake allegations of voter fraud based on pride and ego.

9. The use of tear gas and military equipment by police is part of the problem, not a solution to your fearmongered problem.

10. Riots, while never justified, are a symptom of social change and have never resulted in the country "burning down."

     The difference, Mr. Jordan, appears to be skin color, does it not? For a member of the party that believes in strict interpretation of the Constitution, you sure do hate the first amendment. Why do you believe only white people can peacefully protest?
