Matt Gaetz Joins Trump's Swamp: 12 Reasons The Florida Congressman Is Guilty

For those who want a little rundown on why Matt Gaetz is guilty, here we go:

1. He voted against every anti-sex trafficking bill proposed in his legislative career, usually the lone dissent.

2. He sent a minor Venmo payments of several thousand dollars under charges labeled "tuition."

3. He traveled to the Bahamas, a country notorious for sex trafficking among the wealthy as well as political corruption, with now-convicted sex trafficker Joel Greenberg.

4. Greenberg, the ringleader of this sex trafficking ring, pleaded guilty to six federal charges out of 33 in exchange for a 12-year prison sentence instead of life imprisonment in exchange for agreeing to cooperate with federal prosecutors. This big a drop in charges and prison time implies either a bigger fish or a lot of equally-sized fish.

5. Federal authorities have secured the cooperation of Matt Gaetz's ex-girlfriend in the investigation.

6. Gaetz was accused of engaging in sex for payment with numerous women by a witness for prosecutors. The alleged sex occurred at parties where drugs and alcohol were used extensively.

7. We have proof the drugs and alcohol part is true. Essentially a frat boy menace, Gaetz has multiple DUIs and crank called a Florida Democratic lawmaker while under the influence of some type of substance.

8. He called for defunding the FBI in a Tweet he has since deleted after finding out he was under investigation.

9. He claims this is a political witch hunt in spite of the fact that this was an investigation begun by an employee of Bill Barr, during the Trump administration.

10. He also claims extortion, but the employee he named hasn't worked for the Department of Justice in decades.

11. Even Tucker Carlson doesn't buy his shit. He apparently tried to get Carlson as a blanket alibi in an interview, saying the accusations likely stemmed from a dinner Carlson and his wife attended with Gaetz and a "young woman" a year prior, which Carlson said he had zero recollection of.

12. Matt Gaetz sought a blanket pardon from Donald Trump in December 2020 and January 2021, which would have prevented him from being prosecuted for any crime he may have committed that is currently under investigation. The fact that he has no president to pardon him may help explain why he fought for Trump so vigorously during his 2020 impeachment and spread his election lie.

On that latter point, can we seriously just take a minute to appreciate the irony in the people who support Paul Manafort, Roger Stone, Michael Cohen, Michael Flynn, Rick Gates, George Nader, George Papadopoulos, Steve Bannon, Ken Kurson, Corey Lewnadowski, Brad Parscale, Elliott Broidy, Imaad Zuberi, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, Chris Collins, Duncan Hunter, Sam Patten, and Rudy Giuliani, alongside the president who had Trump University and the Trump Foundation shut down for fraud and whose company is expected to be charged with tax evasion, making "draining the swamp" their rallying cry. The difference is that injustices they perceive are mostly derived from paranoia and not actual criminal proceedings against anyone.

Matt Gaetz is not an exception in Trump World; he is the rule.
