"Trump Re-Inauguration Day" Just Got Pushed Back Another Few Months. How Long Will His Supporters Keep Buying It?

It's just sad at this point. When the election was called in favor of President Biden in November 2020, Trump and his lackeys declared that it had to be a result of widespread election fraud, which Attorney General Bill Barr confirmed was not the case in December. They still tried the case in legal courts and the court of public opinion, having dozens of cases before state and federal judges, including the U.S. Supreme Court (many of whom Trump appointed), dismissed, being laughed out each and every time. Rudy Giuliani, the man in charge, farted at a hearing, held a press conference at a landscape shop he thought was a hotel (conveniently located between a crematorium and an adult toy store), and had his hair dye run while Sydney Powell claimed a Venezuelan socialist president long dead shipped in ballots. They  tried the recounts in key states typical of an election before deciding to challenge the Electoral College certification in Congress (ending in insurrection) and launching a multistate lawsuit. All bitter failures but all successful in garnering a wide audience of gullible Americans.

Mike Lindell has been the most active figure in promoting the "Big Lie." He met with Trump in the White House and suggested martial law, which the Department of Defense, thankfully, refused to make use of. First, the Supreme Court would hand Trump the win in time to be inaugurated for a second term, they said. Then, martial law would come into force on January 20th, 2021. Nope. Then Q, the hillbilly in charge of America's biggest cult, said Trump would be reinstated on March 4th, the date presidents were sworn in until 1937. When that didn't happen, they claimed it was a false flag and that the real date would be April 20th. Another date came and another date went without incident. Some people got so desperate they actually believed that Joe Biden was an actor and the White House had been a set for the past 100 days.

Lindell's next claim was that Trump would be reinstated by August, a claim Trump himself echoed on his website and at his rally. When interviewed by Jordan Klepper at the Arizona "audit," a group of "Cyber Ninjas" with no license or experience that even most Republicans want nothing to do with checking for bamboo ballots in between high school graduations at a rented fairground, Lindell amended his claim AGAIN. The Supreme Court is in recess between late June and early October, and Lindell claimed he would launch a documentary "exposing" the 2020 election in August, meaning that the Supreme Court would "have to make Trump president and defeat the communists" in October.

To any Trump supporters reading this, I have a prediction for you, a real one. Biden will remain president in October, and Lindell will push the date back to "the end of the year," "Christmas," or "January 20th, 2022," the one-year anniversary of Biden's inauguration. If you keep eating from the hand of a man whose claim to fame is a crack pipe, you will keep getting burned. Mike Lindell will grab for attention forever; that's who he is. The only thing that can blunt this repeat trauma to democracy is if people stop buying it.
