America Should Rally Around President Biden's 2023 Budget

I'm trying to make this point clear to people: the Build Back Better Agenda is not dead. Whether it is delayed by a few more months or passed in two separate bills this summer and this autumn, it is going to happen. When the American Rescue Plan Act, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, U.S. Innovation and Competition Act, Build Back Better Agenda, Honoring Our PACT Act, and action on student loans and Made-In-America are taken into consideration, President Biden is on track to have the most impactful economic agenda passed in a two-year period by any American president since Lyndon B. Johnson.

The Omnibus Appropriations Act for 2023 will be among these; there's a reason it's called "Biden's Big Agenda" or "the Other BBB." This bill would:
  1. Make college more affordable by doubling the Pell Grant and investing billions of dollars in HBCUs, TCUs, and other MSIs.
  2. Drastically increase national security funding in virtually every government department, including the State Department and DOJ.
  3. Invest billions of dollars in police reform, community policing, community violence intervention, and gun violence and domestic violence prevention and prosecution.
  4. Provide universal childcare.
  5. Invest in President Biden's Unity Agenda of ending cancer as we know it, ending the opioid epidemic, supporting veterans, and bolstering mental health resources.
  6. Drastically cut back funding for ICE and other cruel and outdated immigration-related agencies.
  7. Invest over $10 billion in additional funding to improve health and safety outcomes for Native Americans.
  8. Recommit the United States to landing on the Moon (to stay) before the decade is out and then on to Mars.
  9. Invest in biodefense and pandemic preparedness and response measures.
  10. Do it all in a fiscally responsible manner that will cut America's deficit by $1.3 trillion, the largest cut ever.
Over the course of the week, I intend to highlight each of these aspects in great detail. It took until March 2022 to sign the 2022 budget into law; the 2023 budget cannot and will not wait until next March; it needs to be done this summer. America should rally around President Biden's 2023 budget, because it has something for everyone and even everything for millions of Americans; it will help achieve what has been in our sights since November 2020: building back better.
