At Least 70 Percent of Adults are Vaccinated in Every State Across America

     Today is another historic day in the fight against COVID-19 for five reasons. First, Wyoming has become the 50th state to reach a partial vaccination rate of at least 70 percent in adults. On August 2nd, 2021, the nation as a whole reached a 70 percent partial vaccination rate among Americans over 18. The national rate is now well above 89 percent; a national rate of 90 percent vaccination for those over 65 in every state across the nation was reached long ago. However, leaving a single state with a subpar vaccination rate leaves the nation as a whole more vulnerable, which is why my #NinetyForNormalcy campaign has focused on states that have been more hesitant to get vaccinated. It also gives anti-vaccine morons fewer talking points when even the most conservative states are overwhelmingly vaccinated: South Dakota, for example, recently hit a partial vaccination rate of at least 90 percent for adults.

     Secondly, New York has hit a partial vaccination rate of 90 percent for its total population, which makes it the first of the "Big Four" most populous states (the others being California, Florida, and Texas). California has nearly gotten five out of six total people in its state partially vaccinated (or 83.33 percent), while Florida is only days away from becoming the third of the big four to pass 80 percent. With this in mind, it's quite possible that all three of these states could reach a 90 percent vaccination rate at some point, which leaves Texas as the state that needs to play catchup (although, thankfully, their rate is nearly 75 percent).

     Thirdly, the nation as a whole has passed 170 doses being distributed for every 100 members of the population, which is the first category that the CDC considers even remotely close to achieving a high level of protection against COVID-19. Even with the contagious BA.2 variant now being the dominant one, cases are remaining low, cases in nursing homes have hit a record low, deaths are remaining low, and hospitalizations are continuing to plummet: these are the results of what we have achieved so far and should serve as a basis for our goal of finishing the job. Fourth, 70 percent of Americans over five, or 70 percent of all eligible Americans, have now been FULLY vaccinated against COVID. That means that the rate of the total population fully vaccinated is on track to hit 70 percent sooner rather than later.

     The fifth and final piece of news is that Indiana surpassed a 70 percent vaccination rate for its population over 12. Just two states-- Mississippi and Wyoming-- have yet to reach a 70 percent vaccination rate for their population 12 and up. These are also the last two states that have yet to reach a 60 percent vaccination rate for their overall population. This makes it clear that Wyoming and Mississippi will be the last two states to focus on if herd immunity is to be reached. Just nine states have yet to reach a 70 percent vaccination rate for their eligible population. Nine. That's it. If we can laser focus on these nine states, we can put ourselves within reach of completing the #NinetyForNormalcy campaign and defeating COVID-19 forever.
