Lindsey Graham and Rudy Giuliani Play With Legal Fire in Fulton County Case as Trump Faces Prison Time
This has been the worst legal week of Donald Trump's life. He sat before a deposition by New York Attorney General Letitia James and pleaded the Fifth nearly 450 times over the course of five hours. The District of Columbia Circuit Court of Appeals, the most powerful court in the nation save the Supreme Court, ruled that Trump's taxes could be turned over to the House Ways and Means Committee, paving the way for that to happen before the end of the year. Former Virginia cop Thomas Robertson tied the record sentence of 87 months in prison for the Capitol insurrection. Then, there's the obvious: on Monday, the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago.
Trump could have just kept quiet. The DOJ and FBI never leak anything before indictments are made. It was Trump himself who played victim by claiming the FBI was "raiding" his home. His victim claims fell flat when it was revealed that he had been issued subpoenas in June and had his home visited by high-level federal agents who asked politely for the documents they were seeking months before the raid took place; it is also worth noting that the raid was specifically timed during normal business hours to be conducted by plain-clothes officers while Trump was away and his attorneys were present: Secret Service was even notified beforehand. Still, the Republican Party dropped its "Back the Blue" bullshit and stirred up violent rhetoric that resulted in law enforcement killing a January 6th insurrectionist who attacked the FBI in Ohio. Trump had the warrant all week but called for the DOJ to release it anyway, and, breaking with tradition, they agreed to do so: unless Trump objected. They also revealed that Trump has copies of the warrant and the property receipts. Further revelations resulted in the knowledge that Trump was turned in by a member of his inner circle, reportedly leaving him paranoid, and that the search involved potential nuclear secrets, which left egg on the faces of his defenders. Now, Merrick Garland is viewed as a silent killer rather than a coward and the judge that Trump supporters have spent four days threatening has the ultimate say over if, when, and how the warrant is made public. The raid was revealed on the 48th anniversary of Richard Nixon's resignation and spawned the rise of "Dark Brandon." The only way it could get better is if Trump were arrested, and it's pretty clear the federal government believes Trump broke the law: even his own attorney said she "wasn't sure" if any documents with nuclear secrets were at Mar-a-Lago.
These aren't even the only ways Trumpworld is facing legal jeopardy this week. Rudy Giuliani has faced consequences and potential legal exposure for nearly two years. Now, however, he has been caught in a lie. To attempt to evade a subpoena by Fulton County DA Fani Willis, who is investigating the phone call Trump made to Georgia Secretary of State Ben Raffensperger telling him to "find" 11,000+ votes, he claimed he was too much of a weak old man to travel. A judge ruled he must testify before a grand jury in-person whether he need travel by plane, train, or boat. Unsurprisingly, he was soon spotted in New Hampshire, which undercuts his claims that he can't travel. Meanwhile, South Carolina Senator "Lady" Lindsey Graham simply didn't show up for his deposition as he continues to resist the subpoena. My message is this: if any other American did what Giuliani or Graham did, a warrant would have been issued for their arrest. Please arrest these two clowns.
All of this happened as a poll revealed Americans overwhelmingly believe Trump to be the worst and Barack Obama to be the best presidents of their lifetime and President Biden signed the Honoring Our PACT Act and Chips and Science Act while Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act.
No, both parties are not the same.
Who the crap wrote these lies. They must have a case of dumbass or TDD.
