QAnon Karen Who Led Police on High-Speed Chase Bails Out of Jail-- Only to Become Homeless

Once again, a lot has happened in the case of Ann Retzlaff, the QAnon-believing, Trump-worshipping "sovereign citizen" who led police on a high-speed chase and claimed that she was rescuing someone from human trafficking, using that as an excuse to sue the police who arrested her and the first judge presiding over her trial for "kidnapping," "aiding and abetting human trafficking," and other ridiculous claims. Personally, I think a vexatious lawsuit like that is worth an additional felony obstruction of justice charge and a defamation suit from the targets. We've already highlighted how she rotted in jail, how her business is being auctioned off, and much more.

Today, more has come to light in this bizarre, sometimes humorous, but genuinely scary case of a woman who has fallen down the rabbit hole of not less than two cults. First and foremost, after months in jail, she was able to make bond of just under $17,000. To make this bond, she had to sell her pickup truck, which combined with the seizure of her campground property, has reportedly left her homeless. That is a shocking revelation and one that begs the question: why would she want to be out of jail in the first place? She likely has friends and family to stay with until her trial, which would explain why she would leave a place with a roof and three free meals.

This story, however, just keeps on giving in its own series of unfortunate events for Ms. "Lemony Snicket" Retzlaff: even though it has been seized and is set to be auctioned in a matter of days, the court technically still factors the property value into her wealth when determining whether or not to grant her an attorney at public expense. Because of this, she may have to pay $100 per hour for an attorney retained by the court, meaning that she could wind up with thousands of dollars in debt for the privilege of being arrested and incarcerated.

She can't buy the campground back, either. The company that repossessed it from her after she failed to pay her mortgage while in jail filed a restraining order against her. This order has the effect of barring her from entering her property, taking anything, or, as reason would have it, buying it back. More likely, it was filed against her because she has a demonstrated history of harassing people she feels have wronged her, and they were looking to avoid a psycho ex-girlfriend situation. The fact that the order adds misery octane to the flames of this case is just a bonus.

We've also learned more about her background. I've already brought up how, in November 2020, she was ticketed for unlawful use of a cellphone. Apparently, she actually used the phone pretending to be a sheriff's deputy to target someone she felt was a "hater" in the wake of her first major publicity, her refusal to adhere to COVID restrictions. She refused to show up to court that day but claimed that she regretted what she did and that it was from the "stress" of people like the one she called while impersonating a law enforcement officer. She's actually lucky: if she weren't a white, conservative woman, she probably would have caught a criminal charge carrying possible jail time from that case. Given her actions since then, however, any feelings of regret were obviously a lie.

This latest revelation also adds another element of danger to the emerging profile of Ann Retzlaff. She is a woman who has repeatedly shown that she has absolutely no respect for the system she once served in the military, the system that maintains peace and prosperity, the system that protects her. Her lawsuit against the people she felt did her wrong as well as the fact that she actually pretended to be a sheriff's deputy shows that, in spite of this hatred toward authority, she is willing to abuse the same system when she feels it suits her. These are the signs of a raging narcissist, a cult member, or perhaps even a sociopath, somebody with no ability to empathize with others who sees the world only through their own objectives and someone who is willing to shoot all else to hell in order to achieve them no matter how absolutely insane. Combine this with the fact that she is now homeless and apparently more desperate than ever, and I worry about what she may try to do before her trial.

In spite of this, as the trial approaches and the auction of her business wraps up, I'll be inquiring about both her liquor license and her military benefits, which are essentially the last two things she stands to face in the way of punishment aside from more time behind bars. Over the course of this year, Ann Retzlaff has tossed away her life for conspiracy theories. She's not alone in the world of dangerous, deranged Trump supporters.
