Harris Raises $40 Million In Third Day of Campaign

What a 72 hours! 72 hours ago, Democrats were demoralized and disorganized, and Donald Trump seemed to be a shoo-in to the White House. Now, Democrats are on track to have the best campaign week in party history. In the first two days of her campaign, Harris raised more than $130 million, and, in day three, she raised $40 million. Fundraising will likely continue to be in the tens of millions for days to come.

Donald Trump had emerged with a fundraising lead over President Biden after his conviction on 34 felony charges as well as the assassination attempt on him in Butler, Pennsylvania, in addition to the aftermath of Biden's poor debate performance and Trump's selection of JD Vance as a running mate. Now, in the course of one week, Vice President Harris seems poised to eliminate an advantage that took the Trump campaign months of climbing and crawling to achieve. The campaign is actually going to the FEC to try to block Harris from inheriting $240 million of Biden-Harris campaign funds, which will fail, and to block her from the ballot in crucial swing states, which will also fail.

The enthusiasm has extended beyond money. In just three days, nearly 70,000 new volunteers have signed up for the Harris campaign, nearly all black men and women. Stories have emerged from every corner of the country of young women and girls, particularly women and girls of color, literally crying when they found out from older relatives that Harris will be the nominee. And Harris will be the nominee. In that same period of time, she secured the endorsement of every single Democratic governor as well as 95 percent of Democrats in Congress, and she has now secured the support of more than enough delegates to win the nomination in August. The only question is who her running mate will be

In fact, it is now the Republicans who are confused and desperate. High-ranking House Republicans have had to tell elected GOP members to stop attacking Harris for her race and gender. Republicans keep calling Harris unqualified in spite of the fact that she was a senator and vice president and their VP nominee is a junior senator with 18 months of experience. Trump himself accused Harris of, "playing the race card," and said Harris was the "nastiest" to Biden. Trump's own running mate called him "political heroin" and "America's Hitler."

Vance is now clearly a mistake for the Trump campaign. He was a pick by a cocky Donald Trump at the top of the world at the RNC in Milwaukee, aimed at riling up the MAGA base rather than trying to appeal to more voters. Now, the political world has been turned upside down. Vance can't connect with people. Aside from his prior bashing of Trump and his writing attacking rural Americans as lazy, Vance simply can't connect with people on the same level that Trump, Harris, or any one of the people mentioned as a possible VP pick for Harris can. His Diet Mountain Dew story was met by crickets by a crowd of the most loyal Trump supporters and was widely panned.

Vice President Harris gave her first speech in Milwaukee, the city the RNC was joyfully taking place in a week ago, to an energetic crowd of 3,000 people that had to be moved to a larger building because of the number of attendees. Tonight, President Biden will give a speech outlining his decision to step out of the race and his vision for the next six months. Meanwhile, Republicans are the ones stepping back and having to go back to the drawing board. While Democrats enjoy a wave of enthusiasm not seen since Obama 2008 or even Clinton 1992, in a major victory for democracy, Elon Musk backed off of his plan to give Trump's campaign $180 million.

The energy in the past three days has been amazing. We need to keep it up in the coming days and weeks. There are just over 100 days until Election Day. To help elect Vice President Harris, click here.
