Summit County Church Embraces January 6th Insurrectionists With Open Arms

John Douglas Wright and Clayton Norris are two domestic extremists who played significant roles in the insurrection on January 6th. Wright organized two busloads of 100 Trump supporters to ride to the Capitol that day, and he and Norris (who allegedly had online chats about bringing chemical spray to the Capitol) both led a breach of police barricades early in the sequence of events that transpired. Norris also used a megaphone to incite the mob to violence that day. Wright is serving a 49-month prison sentence through July 2026 at the FCI in Elkton after pleading guilty to a felony charge, while Norris is awaiting trial on his own felony and misdemeanor charges that could send him to prison for up to five years.

These two are well-established within the white supremacist and anti-government movements of Northeast Ohio, as I mentioned in my previous article in the "Liberty Valley" series. The Liberty Valley Church is not really a church, but a political advocacy group run by and consisting of bigots aimed at infusing religion into politics to form their own toxic brand of Christian nationalism. The head of this snake, as I've mentioned, is Pastor Jeff Tauring. The men pictured above left and above center are John Douglas Wright and Clayton Norris, respectively, who have ties to the Proud Boys and other white supremacist and anti-government movements. The heavyset woman featured in all three photos is Jenny Sirocky, and the blonde woman featured in the center photo is Margaret "Glassner" Lytle. Both are friends of Norris and Wright, and both also happen to be well acquainted with the Liberty Valley Church as members of its congregation.

Lytle is active on Instagram and posted a picture with Sirocky and Norris in August 2022 with the caption, "Patriot friends. Some of the best people I know." A collection of pictures from the post shows the men and women wearing American flags as attire while proudly flying "Fuck ANTIFA" and "Let's Go Brandon" flags at the same height as the stars and stripes. The "Fuck ANTIFA" flag is black and gold, the colors associated with the Proud Boys. A picture from a month prior shows Sirocky getting as close as she gets to exercise and publicly displaying an "FJB" flag with the help of an underaged girl. These are the people who whine about schools "indoctrinating" children.

Sirocky shared the Liberty Valley Church Independence Day celebration announcement that I mentioned last week, one that commenced a campaign to "Make America Great Again." Sirocky is a frequent poster of cat pictures and political commentary on her Facebook page, sharing a post by terrorist sympathizer Julie Kelly on the Supreme Court decision related to the obstruction of an official proceeding statute and another fluff piece about a Texas doctor criminally charged for sharing confidential patient infomation with a Texas hate group. She posts that meditation, yoga, and tarot card readings are tantamount to witchcraft before saying that it is God's mission to "destroy" pride. She suggests checking out pride books and "hanging onto them for a while so they can't push this garbage in children's faces all month." I guess if Ms. Boombalatty can't be happy, nobody can, but she fails to explain what exactly qualifies as a "pride book," where they can be found in Northeast Ohio, what children are going to the library to check out gay books, and which libraries are "pushing" them on youth.

She shared a link to a MAGA boat parade set for August 3rd, a link to a hate group called the "Natural Family Foundation," called on Americans to "find their balls" (which, by the way, would make her transgender) and "resist like it's 1776." She also shared yet another post, the one with the picture of the Liberty Valley Church featuring an upside down flag after Trump's guilty verdict on 34 felony charges, and said, "Love my church." In between posts calling for violence and shedding tears for incarcerated felons, she had the gall to share a post featuring cookies for National Police Week and say she, "missed the days when the whole family was always together at Grandmas [sic]." Considering that appears to be one of her grandchildren in the picture above, I can't imagine Ms. Sirocki does anything that makes a grandma a grandma.

This story is one of the most disturbing I have come across. A church... a church, one that doesn't have to pay taxes, is enlisting a congregation of Trump supporters, white supremacists, and anti-government extremists with ties to the storming of the Capitol on January 6th to advance Christian nationalism across the state of Ohio. We can't allow this to stand. To report the Liberty Valley Church to the IRS, click here. To tell them what you think about violent, white supremacist Christian nationalism, click here. A good way to help would also be to suggest that Google change their label from "church" to "non-profit organization," because I'm coming after their tax-exempt status next.
