President Biden's Perfect Handling of the Trump Shooting Demonstrates His Commitment to Defending Democracy.

Well, that was fast. After spending more than two weeks attacking Joe Biden as too old and feeble to run the country, unable to string together a complete sentence, inciting panic among gullible congressional Democrats and then reporting on that feedback as news, the media is now accusing President Biden of being a full-throated stochastic terrorist after the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.

The fact that the shooter was described as a conservative and a loner of full Columbine style by his classmates? So what? The fact that he was wearing a shirt for a popular pro-2A YouTube channel? Never heard of it. The fact that Donald Trump had pledged to make an announcement that would "strike fear into the hearts of deep state enemies" that night? Irrelevant. Let's just report on a 69-year-old man from Pittsburgh who shares the same name as the assassin making a $15 contribution to ActBlue on January 20th, 2021, to paint him as some left-wing lunatic. Seriously, we have a bunch of partisan and corporate hacks in this country disguising themselves as free press.

President Biden called Donald Trump a convicted felon because he's a convicted felon. He called Donald Trump a threat to democracy because he's a threat to democracy. Trump's own vice presidential nominee compared him to Hitler, and his former vice president has repeatedly criticized Trump publicly in the past two years. President Biden shouldn't regret campaigning in an election year, something the media was criticizing him for allegedly not doing enough of right up until the moment of the shooting.

President Biden has handled this better than any president has handled an assassination attempt against a political rival that I can recall. He was immediately briefed alongside Vice President Harris on the situation. He held a press conference to condemn the shooting, called Donald Trump on the night it happened to wish him a speedy recovery, put out statements on the official White House website and social media, temporarily pulled political ads from the air, delivered remarks on Sunday morning, and delivered an Oval Office address to the nation on Sunday night. He even reached out to the family of the man killed at the rally, something Donald Trump has not done. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro ordered flags across the state flown at half-staff after the attack.

Donald Trump would not have done the same. He mocked Paul and Nancy Pelosi after Paul had his skull crushed in by a right-wing extremist who broke into his home. He continues to call the January 6th defendants who injured 140 police officers and caused millions of dollars in property damage in their attack on democracy "peaceful people" and hostages, making a song with them and promising pardons. When Representative John Dingell died of natural causes, Trump implied publicly that he was in Hell. What the media fails to understand is that that doesn't matter.

President Biden fully believes in American democracy. He condemned the Supreme Court's immunity ruling just this month, refused to pardon his own son for crimes he was convicted of, allowed special counsel Robert Hur to release a partisan pile of garbage attacking him, and repeatedly called for people to allow the FBI to do their jobs rather than spreading misinformation, advice the media could probably learn from.

The SCOTUS ruling, the Trump shooting and the reactionary responses afterward, and now the dismissal of charges related to Trump's obstruction and espionage in Florida demonstrate one thing clearly: the attack on our democracy is ongoing. President Biden's response to these events has demonstrated something else: President Biden is committed to democracy. We need to re-elect him if we want to continue to live in a nation where political violence is wrong and presidents are not above the law. To re-elect Joe, donate here.
